i used a picture of the entrance to their farm....printed on a transparency.....for the background of this piece. i was pleased with the way it turned out and hope it captured the close bond between these two special people.

one heart
i thought i'd share the latest project i've been working on in my studio . a co-worker brought me pictures of her parents and asked that i come up with something for her father.
her parents are one of those couples who still enjoy each others company after many years of marriage. they love doing things together..........like taking off for parts unknown...leisurely stopping to do a little 'junkin' along the way.

getting the fever while running a fever
it sure seems like a lot of folks are getting the fever to get out and start gardening. i keep hearing from others......like myself......that are drooling over the new seed catalogs. there's a giveawy on art by naomi who says she's craving a little green and wanting some spring. I hear ya girl.
i'm still VERY crippled with this broken foot. it's really been a hurtful thing. the break is in the joint between the big toe and the bone behind it. i'm having photo shooting withdrawal symptoms......can't go junkin..........by the time i get home from work (thankfully i'm on desk duty!) my foot's hurting so bad i'm in a fog and can't even enjoy reading everyone's blogs. i know......want a little cheese with that whine? sorry.
i hope i'll be able to work in my woodworking shop this weekend. i've got some great ideas for some crucifixs made with found objects that i can't wait to get started on. i've also ordered susan tuttle's new book....exhibition 36 mixed media demonstrations and explorations....and i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will arrive tomorrow. i am soooooo book and magazine poor....but i wouldn't have it any other way. for those of us who don't have a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and you beside me.......a good read and a great cuppa joe is a pretty good tradeoff.

mo junkin
here are the rest of the pictures i took on my junkin trip this past weekend. i think these are sap buckets, not really sure, i was just drawn to the colors.
this enamel ware caught my eye. anything blue usually does.
who doesn't love yellow ware. the guy at this booth told me several years back a woman tried to scam him by taking a picture of his yellow ware to the police and telling them it had been stolen from her home. it takes all kinds!
these poor bodyless guys appeared to be in deep thought. i guess with only a head that's pretty much all they could do!
i like to use some of these jars for my fairies. of course.... i loved the blue ones.
this lady had a virtual candy store for the mixed media artist. she told me hanna blew her up the coast trying to make a buck. there was so much great stuff....buttons, beads, old hardware, old game pieces, old pictures, marbles, old jewelry, doo dads.... you name it. i spent a huge amount of time digging thru her things.
she also had this mannequin head. again.......very contemplative!
i don't know what these are but the colors were nice. i'd put some candles in one and use it as a center piece on my table.
i really wanted one of these bird houses but they were $69.00.... too pricey for me. there was a barn red one that kept calling my name every time i got close. they were made from reclaimed wood and tin.

i'm gonna have to stick back a little green and make this trip again first of october. the weather should be great for junkin and i may partake of a little "fair food" while i browse.
