decorations of red........

snow! snow! snow!

we usually get....MAYBE....2 inches of snow a year...

this is the second big snow for us here in the midlands

of south carolina....about six inches.

now i know lots of you are probably laughing about our "big snow"

but...really...we're just not equipped for it here.

it was nice having a couple of days off work....yeah...that happens here!
i spent most of my outside time feeding the birds....
and my cat....so he didn't try to eat the birds....
what i enjoyed most about this snow...
sitting in my studio and watching these beautiful
red cardinals....like decorations...in the
snow covered trees.....

since the weather has warmed enough to get outside today i took a stroll around the yard to see if i could tell what i've lost to the unusual cold we've had here. there are quite a few of my "chillrens" that aren't looking like they'll be here come spring.....sadly.....my newest cryptomeria is one of them.....i pray she'll prove me wrong.......

but.........look what i stumbled across back near the woods.....the muscari have decided to make an appearance....

only a gardener would get drunk on the elixir of this sight......welcome back little ones.....i pause in celebration of your return....and anxiously await your coronation of purple crown......

my newest addition

my lady banks rose has decided she likes her new home. she sits on a spot where we buried an old log cabin many years back. the lady who lived and died in the cabin was named perla. over the years we've attributed lots of "happenings" to perla. i'm gonna give her credit for the success of this sweet, buttery, beauty.

this is my newest addition. she's a cryptomeria and when i saw her i knew she needed to live at my home. my daughter thinks she looks like charlie brown's christmas tree.......i think she's wonderful.
